Reed Harrison D.V.M (Owner)
Reed is a 1979 graduate of Kansas State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, and opened the Rose Hill Veterinary Clinic in 1982. Immediately after graduation Dr. Reed, along with his wife Peggy and daughter Shanna, moved to Seattle, Washington where he accepted a job as associate veterinarian at West Seattle Animal Hospital. Dr Reed was mentored that first year by Dr Eugene Eastly, a great veterinarian and one of whom Dr Reed credits much of his early learning to. In August of 1980, Dr Reed accepted a position at Colorado State University's National Cancer Institute as a research fellow. Oncology has always been a strong interest to Dr Reed, and he completed one year of radiation research while at Colorado State. Dr Reed, Peggy, and Shanna moved back to the Wichita area to be closer to family in 1981, where Dr Reed accepted a position as the second ever veterinarian at what is now the Wichita Emergency Veterinary Clinic. In December of 1981, he left the Emergency clinic to start the planning and building process on what would become the Rose Hill Veterinary Clinic. In March of 1982, before the remodeling was complete, Dr Reed saw his first patient, a guinea pig, owned by Mrs Cathy Cole, who is still a client to this day. Dr Reed's passion for veterinary medicine is what has helped make the Rose Hill Veterinary Clinic a success. He still absolutely enjoys coming to work everyday, maintaining that "if you like what you do, its not work". His main areas of interest in veterinary medicine are oncology, bovine reproduction, and orthopedic surgery, but in truth, he really does enjoy it all! Outside of the clinic, Dr Reed enjoys skiing, hiking, rafting, and fly fishing, particularly in Crested Butte, Colorado.
